Intro to IT is the gateway for aspiring tech professionals or anyone looking to deepen their understanding of information technology. This course covers network infrastructure, hardware and software essentials, computer security, and troubleshooting techniques. Tailored for individuals with basic technological experience, this class aims to elevate your IT skills, preparing you for a potential career in the tech industry or to pursue further specialized certifications. What You Will Learn

Our Intro To IT curriculum includes:

  • Network Infrastructure: This module introduces the fundamentals of network design and implementation. Students will learn about different types of networks (LAN, WAN, and wireless), network topologies, IP addressing, and routing basics. The course will also cover essential networking devices like routers, switches, and firewalls, and explain their roles in data transfer across networks.
  • Computer Security: In this section, students will explore the principles of computer security, focusing on threats, vulnerabilities, and countermeasures. Topics include antivirus software, firewalls, encryption, and secure authentication methods. The course will also discuss ethical issues and best practices for maintaining privacy and data integrity in personal and professional contexts.
  • Troubleshooting: This module teaches the systematic approach to diagnosing and resolving computer and network issues. Students will learn how to identify common hardware and software problems, use diagnostic tools, and apply problem-solving strategies to real-world scenarios. Emphasis will be placed on developing critical thinking skills and effective communication with users.
  • Computer Hardware/Software: Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the components that make up computer systems. The course covers the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware (such as CPUs, memory, and storage) and software (including operating systems and application software). Practical exercises will include building a computer from scratch and installing various types of software.
